I love this idea, and I sure hope you can make it work! As an OG mountain Gazette subscriber, I was quick to jump onto their refurbished train, and that NYT article led me to give Ori (global glimpses, written by locals) a try. The visual impact of these large format magazines is compelling, and the writing both entertaining and informative. It seems right up your alley!

I need to get my hands on a copy of Mountain Gazette. I've heard reports that it's almost TOO big these days. You disagree?

Excited to see this announcement! I could see this mag really working well in your hands. I do think there is a niche there ready to be filled.

Thought I had commented when this was originally published but I guess I forgot.

Looking forward to a magazine version! It’s something much needed. You may reach out to the Mergoat Magazine folks. They make a quarterly that is community oriented but I know they struggle with funding too. But they may have ideas on how to get started. https://mergoat.com/mergoat-magazine/

The idea of a magazine is super exciting!

Definitely interested in any print forms of this type of publication! Also appreciate the desire to continue engaging via Substack. It often feels more thoughtful and personal communicating with others here than in the Twitter-sphere.

Well, the top corner was flopping open in my fairly wide magazine rack, but it was too tall to go in sideways!

I didn’t save copies of the old MGazzette, but it too was large, quite possibly the same size (yet certainly not as thick, and no color)

Ori is thick and deluxe but normal mag proportions.
